Cookie Policy
What cookies and similar technologies geneticelements.com uses — including the referral identifier that attributes an order to this site — and how to control them.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device. Related technologies include pixels, local storage and scripts. Together they keep a site working, remember preferences and measure aggregate usage.
This policy expands on section 7 of our Privacy Policy; where the two describe the same processing, the Privacy Policy governs.
2. What we use, and why
Essential: session and security state needed for the site and the enquiry form to work, including preserving your research-use confirmation between steps. These cannot be switched off.
Referral attribution: because Genetic Elements does not sell, take payment or ship, we are compensated only when an order placed with the independent partner supplier can be attributed to this site. To make that possible we store a referral identifier when you follow an ordering link and pass it to the supplier. It records that the referral came from here — it is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
Analytics: aggregate measurement of which pages and materials are read, so we can decide what to document next. We do not use analytics data to target advertising.
3. The partner supplier sets its own
Once an ordering link takes you to the partner supplier's storefront, you are on its site and its cookie and privacy notices apply. We do not control what it sets or how long it keeps it.
4. Controlling cookies
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies, and offer a private-browsing mode that discards them on exit. Blocking essential cookies may stop the enquiry form from working.
Refusing the referral identifier does not affect anything you can see on this site, and does not change the price you are quoted by the supplier.
We do not sell personal information, so no "do not sell" opt-out is required. Global Privacy Control signals are honoured where applicable law requires it.
5. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as our practices or providers change; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
